This is my brief appearance on 4 February 2017 in a TV program of Ted Failon on Channel 2 (ABS-CBN) about Jobstart Philippines, a project of the Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the Institute for Integrality.
JobStart is a youth-unemployment mitigation program that aims to shorten youth’s school-to-work transition by strengthening the knowledge and skills acquired by jobseekers in formal education or vocational schools, making them more capable to adapt to the demands of the labor market.
Life Skills Training (LST) is intended to impart life skills with the youth specially those values that pertain to professionalism and work appreciation so to help them retain their jobs and perform excellently in their workplace (JobStart Philippine Act/RA 10869, Section 3). Furthermore, this ten-day training aims to hone their proper behavior, attitude and values that can help them discover and/or develop their career path and manage their day-to-day demands brought upon by everyday life and work (DOLE – JobStart Trainer’s Manual, 2016).
